We have been doing original murder mysteries for a local restaurant for a few years and now want to offer our services to other organizations for their fund raisers, parties, etc.

We are at the community theater level and the productions are modest but full of audience interaction.

Does anyone have any idea what groups like us charge for travelling plays?

We have been looking at the same thing. We have licensed our plays to others for $1.00 a head with a $15 minimum. They give us an estimate of how many people they expect and give us a 50% deposit and true up after the show. I know there is risk but we have never had a problem - of course we never count heads. . . . We have never had the opportunity but we felt that if we got over 50 people we would charge 50 cents a head for over 50.

I have been successfully 'selling' our fully scripted yet some improv included audience interactive murder mysteries to various venues since 1998 in the Pa, Ny, Nj area - our fees vary depending on show availability, travel, location of show, etc. but generally go for either a price per person fee of $14.00 (dinner theater) 0r flat fee ranging from $600. - $1500. depending on venue, amount of actors (we pay) and if the show has 'pid for itself' or not yet.
