Hey,

I've been asked to direct AaOL but we are a little company and need to set it with ...well.. as little set as possible. It can be done any ways traverse, in the round or end on. I was just wondering if anyone had any bright ideas and could help me out.

Thanks

I'm designing that show right now too.  However, this is a different circumstance.

If minimal is what you are doing...  maybe even think 3/4 blackbox or something.

stripping arsecnic down to the bare...

IMOHO, the back balcony should not go away.   If you could get away with a six foot rise on the balcony, it could be used as directed in the script.  Doors smores? who needs those.  Just stairs on the backside for Teddy's exit, and the underside could have black cloth for masking.

the window seat can just be a box box or something, even attach the window to the seat itself. make it funky with paint or something

the cellar door could just be an escape under the stairs on the platform.  (mind you, this balcony might need a railing or something, bu t i would assume just on the downstage side.

the front door, i dunno, maybe a free standing frame that's masked with black or something. ...

I did some set work for that one too.  For the Dead guys ( spumoldi???) I used PVS pipe and eye hooks to male a figuar.  All kidding aside, you could make a stick figuar man
