Subject: Smokeless paper?

We are a very small, college drama troup.  We are preforming Oscar Wilde's An Ideal Husband.    The school administration has said that we much use smokeless paper if we want to burn the letter (which is very important to the plot).  Has anyone heard of smokeless paper?  Do you know where we can get it?

Also, the play requires a diamond snake brooch that instantly turns into a diamond bracelet.  Does anyone have any ideas for how to do that cheaply?  Do you know how it has been done in other productions of An Ideal Husband?

Thanks!

I have never had the need to think about smokeless paper! Whatever that is!

Paper burns & smoke happens naturally!

[It must have something to do with the schools ?no smoking? policy?]

I?m sure that someone, with nothing much to do, has took the time out to invent it sometime or other?

Why don?t you use a smoke machine & a lighting, effect!

The fire effect using fluorescent starters & lamp bubbles, with colour gel, is easy to do & control with a dimmer.

Flashpaper which is often used by magicians burns with little to no smoke. The only problems with that are that it burns very fast and thus doesn't look like normal paper burining, and it can be expensive.

As for the brooch, not sure what you mean by "instantly" but you take take a brooch and glue a thin braclet chain to the back of it. Wrap the chain up so it's no seen when it's being worn.
