How about a Modonna look from her younger days:  layered look, tights, boots, head band, lace gloves --  a "Desperately Seeking Susan" look...?

oh, and also, it must be relatively modest and easy to dance in...i don't want to be sweating onstage either.  hmmm...kathy...that's an interesting idea...i'll look into it.

we did a great production of this show where each actor wore a different color scrubs (White for Jesus, red for Judas) It looked great, was pretty cheep. The cast bought thier own so they could keep them after closing.

If you haven't found anything yet, my daughters choir did Godspell one year and the chorus got pajama pants (brightly colored), a brightly colored t-shirt that they decorated themselves (my daughter had silk flowers sewn on hers, other kids wore bright ties or beads) and they all bought the socks with the toes in them. Some kids wore hats as well.

Go to your favorite thrift store and mix colors and patterns, layers, fabrics
and accessories, such as suspenders, hats, vests, leg warmers, tights and
colorful long stockings, feather boas and gloves. When I costumed it
once I decorated a bra and the actress wore it outside her leotard or
blouse. It had lots of fringe and spangles on it so it almost appeared to
move! This was for the "Turn Back Oh Man" girl, by the way. Surf the web
for other productions that will give you other ideas!

Juliet, It would be fun to see photos of what you finally settled on!

I don't think i have any good photos, but ill describe it in excruciating detail:

Hair:braids with sheer rainbow ribbon tied in a knot to them and hanging down.

makeup:two red circles on the cheeks

shirt:white layer on bottom so no flashing goes on(), pink tank top and sheer flowy coral shirt. long sleeved with slits up to the elbow, and a deep neck with sequins and beads outlining it. the color ranged from a light coral slowly turning to a deep one.

pants: jeans with patches(teddybears, purple paisley, and red stripes) with a slit from the bottom.

socks: pink and white hearts

Wish i could give you a pic ....sorry, but thanks for all the help and ideas.

I see that you posted back in FEB a request regarding Godspell costumes.

My daughter will be in this show soon and was wondering if anyone perhaps has a video that they would want to sell?

Please let me know.

Thanks!
