Hello this is Drama Mama... who had to change her name because she could not remember her freaking password.

Anyhow.. We are blowing up a car and have decided to to it off stage and throw various car-looking items onto the stage from the wings.  I have some ideas for things to use, but wonder if any of you had some suggestions.

the biggest problem is that the items must not gouge or scratch our stage (music people use it too and they are way fussy)

Thanks

How about rolling a wheel in from the wings. The rubber tire will prevent it from damaging the stage. Just need to be sure you don't roll it in such a way it goes off into the audiance.

Rolling on the tire is a great idea and might be all
you need to convey the effects of an explosion.
An upholstered car seat (smouldering, if possible)
and a padded steering wheel also won't scratch your
stage.

a hubcap might be funny. Like when it's in one place just spinning down to the floor and it speeds up till it's done? The longer the better IMO. You really shouldn't need more than a tire though.

All good ideas, but be careful with the smoldering car seat.  Fumes could be hard on people with asthma or repiratory problems, or just plain toxic.

I wasn't suggesting actually torching a car seat, but
there are effects available to make it LOOK like it
was smouldering.

But while we're back on the topic, flinging on a pair of
fuzzy dice would be funny.

Actually a flaming pair of fuzzy dice would be funnier.

And just saying "Flinging a flaming pair of funny fuzzy
dice" amuses me as well.

Cheers!
