OK, I haven't read or seen this play, but there is one called "Five Women All Wearing the Same Dress" about the bridesmaids at a wedding...that is all I know.

It?s a play about a typical country town wedding reception, while this Australian, & an actual bush town, it can be easily be transformed to your locality.

The 15 [M&F] main characters are on the wedding table & includes the audience as part of the reception. While it is carefully scripted, there is great scope to add localised interaction & improve with the audience. Easy to stage as you can do it in the village community hall or theatre using the stage for the wedding table. You can do it in full house lights or support with lighting, the choice is yours completely.

We did it & even accepted all the usual wedding gifts from the audience as well - flogging them off later, after the season was over in a grand auction. The happy couple received gifts, which included everything from mountains of toasters, bathroom suits, hardware, garden gnomes to a 3 day all inclusive honeymoon, from all the unknown bums on seats. The proceeds of these goodies, where donated to the ?Royal Flying Doctor Service?. The local interest created leading up to the season was fantastic, for a tiny country town theatre group. The local catch cries became "see you at the wedding? to "what you going to wear to the wedding" & other such comments.

Joe, that one sounds something like "Tony and Tina's Wedding"...a very popular, interactive theatre "experience".  I have only seen it once, although many theatres produce it like clockwork, year after year in February around Valentine's Day... The audience watches the wedding which is done on stage, with plenty of improvisation on the part of the actors, and then is invited to the dinner and dance.  The dinner is an Italian entree with salad and garlic bread (not a great cost involved for the producer) and there is a live band to dance to with the wedding party. (This could be costly if you have to hire a band.) If you have a liquor license you can sell drinks at the reception.  The entire reception is improvised...I can't remember how they know when it is over....

Some people must love this show.  Admittedly, it is very popular, although I personally felt kind of "scammed" -- I was ready for an actual performance and it just was not what I expected. Fun for the presenting company.
