We need to come up with a bed for Scrooge that can fit through a 22
inch-wide wing door and can be set up FAST. It needs to have the
bedcurtains attached, probably. Any ideas?

Thanks!

The real problem is the bed curtains. The way I would handle it is to get 2 poles that will be your supports for the bed curtains (use 2"x2" for example). Put something at each corner of the bed that these poles can easily slip into. I usually use platforms for a bed so I would cut a hole in each corner. Next attach your bed curtains between the poles, stapeling them firmly to each pole. Now when you lift out the poles the whole things should collapse down very small. Carry the bed base and the curtians in seperatly and setup them up on stage.

Another option is to construct the poles, curtains and
bedframe as a single unit on casters, yet the rails
will be attached to headboard and footboard with
hinges all facing in the SAME DIRECTION. This way
the rectangular bed can fold into a much narrower
quadrangle to fit through your opening.
Don't use a heavy mattress, but instead substitute
only a much lighter box spring. This will be brought
on separately and supported by small brackets
screwed to the inside of the bed rails.
Likewise, the linens and pillows are all attached to a
piece of plywood the size of your boxspring and can
quickly be tossed on top of the thing when it's all set
up.
