Our theatre group is considering Lanford Wilson's "Book of Days".  It reads superbly, but I have never seen it "on its feet".  Anyone out there familiar with this firsthand?  Need general pro/con feedback.

Also, at end of Act 1, the wife of the man who was murdered has a "character breakdown" and another actress has to "fill-in" to re-enact the moment.  How does this come across to the audience - it seems abrupt and somewhat out of the blue.  I know staging will handle some of this, but any comments/suggestions on this particular scene?

Thanks in advance for any assistance!
