I'm a freshman at Tufts University in charge of props for our production of Noises Off.  While searching the web, I stumbled across the website and figured I might get some assistance.  Does anyone have any recommendations on how to do sardines for the show?  Thanks.

You have stumbled on to a great website and will want to come back often for the great help and friends you will find here.  While I don't have a plan for you for making your sardines, i can tell you of yet another site which is wonderful for prop topics.  www.proppeople.com  is where I like to look for good prop solutions.

It just seems like an obvious and simple solution, but have you considered the rubber/plastic fish used in fishing tackle?  Well, remove the hooks, but...  Just a thought!

That's what we've done for our production of the show (which opens this weekend)... we sent people off on a search through fishing stores for the perfect plastic sardine.

An extra tip on the fishing lure sardines -- the flexible rubber they're made of is sticky enough to make them stick to a porcelain plate. Our stage manager gives the ones that have to slide off the plate a little dusting with cornstarch, which takes care of the problem.
