Just talked to the person in the public education division of the City fire dept. about fire code for a theater running on the 2nd floor and he said all you need is one exit with direct street access that is a min. of 44" across. This seems too simple (ie is this all they require?) Of course the other rules also apply about aisle widths, etc.I would like to read the codes for myself. Does anyone know how to find them on the web? Debbie of the Phoenix Theater

You should be able to get the fire codes from your local library. They are usually in a book that contains all the building codes.
A better idea would be to get ahold of your local Fire Marshal and have him come out an look at your space, since he's the one who's ultimatly going to make the call as to whether you facility meets fire code or not. Dan |
