So we all know that ANNIE is pretty much a guaranteed money-maker... My theatre is planning its next season in a community with several other good community theatres, so we have to (nicely) compete... and several of them have just done ANNIE and one more is doing it next season.
So who has done the sequel, ANNIE WARBUCKS? I am interested to know if it was similarly profitable to the original... Thoughts? |

We did Annie Warbucks in 2000. It was not as profitable as a normal production of Annie, but we did well with it. You just have to make sure people know it is the continuation of the Annie story.
Unlike Annie II, Miss Hannigans Revenge (which I got to see at the Kennedy Center), it does not try to be a huge spectacle and is all the better for it. One thing that worked well for us, get local celebrities or politicians to play the Vice President. It is a fun little bit to do.
