Inspecting Carol is a great show.
The big effect is the collapsing stage. Once you decide how to do this, the rest of the design pretty much follows suit. I built ours by building a 10' x 12' "deck" of 2x6 joists with 3/4" ply on top, 30" off the ground and hinging the back to very sturdy platform. I built the downstage legs of the platform to sit on 8 30" posts with 6" double wheels on the bottom, which supported the platform. To create the collapsing stage, i attached a pole that we were able to run from the downstage legs, back under the "stage" to a lever. When pulled, the lever pulled the posts out from under the stage like a kickstand. The stage collapsed and scared the heck out of the audience. Can you describe your space? That would help to give you some ideas. Good luck, Tim Edited by MercyTech - 9/15/10 at 12:47am |
