Our theater company just made it out of our first year and are looking to make $$$ for 2009. We have an advertising book and letter donation campaign going but can't get the proper letters. Does anyone have any suggestions?

What do you mean by, "but can't get the proper letters"?

We're actually going after "corporate sponsorships" this year for the first time. We have lists of benefits that match up to certain levels of support and are approaching companies that may have a special interest in the particular production - for instance, the show we are rehearsing right now is "Duck Hunter Shoots Angel," so we're going after Bass Pro Shops (a new one just opened in our area) for a corporate sponsorship.

What I was asking if anyone had a sample letter their theater group uses for the purpose of selling ad space.

Hi Tracy.  At the beginning of our season and fiscal year we send out information to business owners and managers about ads in our playbill/program and sponsorships.  First you need to have a good list to send too.  (we need to continue to grow that)  Right now we have about 550.  We send (1) a cover letter, (2) an ad contract, (3) sponsorship info.  I'll e-mail what we did this past season directly to you so we don't take up so much room here.  We have a fairly good response.  You need to make the case for what you do for the community, how many people you bring to your location that has positive residual effect for other businesses.  And most importantly, share with people that you're trying to help make your customers their customers.  For people to advertise with you, they want to know what's in it for them?  Not everyone wants to advertise just to be nice.  But, what will it do for their business?  I'll e-mail what we have.

We're looking to do just the same thing. Could you please email me your info packet as well? And what is your conversion rate on your letter/packet you send out?
