My daughter is prop mistress for a show which requires 8 candlestick telephones. they need to be durable enough to be dropped occasionally and in a choreographed number.
any thoughts on how to manufacture these? Any ideas at all would be appreciated |

is this for Crazy for You?
just guessing.
Theatre House has nice ones that can be assembled and painted.
They're plastic, kind of pricey.
We used them for our production a few years back.

thanks and sorry I forgot to mention the name of the show. It is a murder mystery spoof called "Something's A foot"
all I really know about it is it has a "gajillion props" and is based quite a bit on "Ten Little Indians" |

I just looked at the ones from Theater house... is that something that could be used as a mold to create clones of the telephone in perhaps a more sturdy material? I cannot tell if they are just hollow or solid pieces from the picture they provide. I know the college does not have the budget for that many phones so I am trying to use my resources here and my own goofy creative brain ... I have come up with toy trumpets for parts and cake decorating pillars, but hav no thought on how to glue all that together |

I am making candlestick phones for our production of Crazy for You. I need 10 of them. I am using pvc pipe hot glued to a paper bowl at one end and a cut paper bowl at the other. After assembly, I will paint the whole thing black. I made a prototype using a paper towel roll but think the pvc pipe will be more sturdy. My mom saw my prototype in my washroom and thought it was the real thing. She didn't know I was making these for our production. You could try something like this but use Gorilla glue to make sure it holds together and then keep extra phones on hand in case one breaks during drops. Maybe using a plastic bowl would be more sturdy.
