I'm looking for a source to order muslin.  In the past, we've gone to our local fabric store (when we have a flat or two to cover), but now I have a large number to cover and would like to order a roll.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks.

For Cotton Muslin 108" NFR $4.20/yd if you buy the entire bolt at dazian.com  I usually deal with Dan Fox there.

I just ordered 100 yards of unbleached muslin (36' wide) from hancockfabrics.com for $0.69/yard.  Hard to argue with that price :)

"It's not the width, but length that counts" is a saying from the 'rag Trade' {If I got that the right way round?] But I found in theatre it always comes down to "It's not the length, but width that counts". Especially when skinning flats or knocking up a backdrop.
For years know I have been trying to find unbleached calico, that used to come in HWT [Hundred Weight] bales. These bales were packed with off cuts of the loom lengths & weaving machines odd remnants.
They were in the 108" loom width. that came from India & I used to buy them back in the 70's.
The calico was used by Upholsters & furniture manufactures to cover underneath chairs & sofas. In those days I got the bale for about $50 & the bales would last for years. We used it for everything from Flats, Backdrops, Props & costumes. The lengths varied but the were generally from 5 yards to 15 yards lengths. But it looks like the manufacture has woken up to this now, flogging the bales off to sweat shop clothing factories instead.
However our Treasurer & her husband owns a lounge furniture manufactures. So they donate all their remnant & end of line material fabrics. Also we were able to  buy a roll each of natural & black  calico for wholesale price. Which was the 96" width for a $0.50  Metre.
Nannette it may be worth your while to have a word to a friendly furniture or curtain drapes local manufacture or even fossick about their scrap & remnant bins? You never know you might be lucky to have then donate a few rolls or so!
With skinning flats remember to get unbleached, untreated natural cotton, to retain it's ability to shrink.

Could everyone simply pray for my muslin ...

My order was automatically cancelled three times (!) and no one could figure it out until six days ago.  Now, the order "has been processed" and I open in nine days.  I was to have the fabric in hand no later than today, and it's still not here.  I WILL be making some frantic calls tomorrow, but for now I need prayers that my 125 yards will arrive, my flats will somehow get covered and painted, and my scenery will be loaded in before curtain.

I am sorry to be so late to the table here, but Chicago Canvas has been our source for almost 10 years and never failed to get things to us almost overnight

I cannot compare them or their prices to anyone else, but they have been great to deal with
