What can be done to the flats to make them look "Victorian" for Arsenic and Old Lace?

Thanks.

The drector I worked with on a show wanted a "vistorian look and we just used a real rich wine colored paint, then used a wall paper border. Sometimes those deep colors can give you the look you need.

Purchase or create a stencil pattern that can be used over and over on the flats to create the look of old-fashioned wallpaper.  Space the stencil in regular intervals either in a stripe or diagonal pattern.

After it is dry, use a wash or a glaze in a brown shade to "age" the walls, giving special attention to the corners and near the "ceiling" where dust and grime typically gather.

From memory of Victorian times & decore. It wasn?t so much Regency as being rather sombre, when it came to wall furnishings, however as it not set in Pohmy land. It would have been more plain colours, like stippled 2 tone duck egg blue for the walls & the set dressed in victorian style with a lot of antimacassars & doleys on the furniture. The only accented colour was with the odd Aspidistra majolica Jardinieres &/or willow patern Delf ware displayed.
Use the odd Sepia [milk chocolate] gels to give the musty atmosphere with the lighting wash.
