My fiance and I want to start something of an after school program in
our community. It would be a place for kids to go and learn various
facets of drama, theatre, techie stuff writing directing and so on.
Just like an outlet for that sort of thing. I would imagine we'd need a
building of sorts for this and non-profit status as well as a federal
grant.
Do any of you know of programs like this that we could check out for a model? |

Since 1981 "The 52nd Street Project" in New York
City has been teaming up disadvantaged youths in Hell's Kitchen with Broadway professionals in a mentorship program. Check them out on the web at www.52project.org. A similar program was started in Minneapolis through the Pillsbury House Theatre. It is modeled after the 52nd Street Project and is named "The Chicago Avenue Project" (Chicago Avenue being the street on which the Pillsbury House is located.) You can find them at www.puc-mn.org/theatre. Best of luck to you! |
