By way of a response to Doug's, "What is going on with the Community Theater sites?", although I have no new technique to share or questions to ask, I thought I would share my wonderful weekend. I am the Director for our community theater's production of "Cheaper by the Dozen" and we just had our opening weekend. Normally, we have a fairly slow weekend on opening a straight show, and sales pick up on the second weekend after word of mouth has done its job. On this show, even before the news reviews, we had almost a full house for all three shows. I had some worries about the show coming to a gel, as we were rehearsing over all three of the big holidays and with many kids in the cast there were many conflicts to rehearsals. But the crucible of hell week did it melding and we have a wonderful show. I am very proud of our cast and crew. We even got a mid scene ovation that stopped the show for two minutes during the Sunday performance. Now that might be common in your theaters, but it’s not in ours and we were thrilled!!! One more weekend ahead of us, but I have the feeling this will be a show we hate to see close. Once again I recommend to any play reading committee, go for the classics and the name recognition and the seats will be filled. And they are also still great fun to put on. As I began, this is just filler, but the Bulletin board is here, so we might as well use it to share our high points as well as the low.
Till next we tread the board….. MartyW |

Congratulations! In my opinion, this is exactly what a board like this is for! Break another leg the second weekend!
