Hey Marty, here is a question that might get some dialog going (it is meant for anyone and everyone to answer): What is your theatre group doing to "stretch" itself? What risks are you taking? Trying different genres? New directors? What? How are you reaching into the communities that you serve? How are you getting new people into your theatre, either to actively participate or to fill the seats?
We had a terrific season in 2002 and decided that it might be a good time to introduce some new things (of course just about anything is new to us, since we are only three years old!) We needed more directors, so we decided to do an evening of one-act plays, each directed by a different(new)director, with a common thread running throughout. Just had auditions, so we will see how that goes and report back. We also decided to try something more serious this season. We have been doing comedies, musicals and melodramas -- so this season we will throw in a classic drama -- a stage adaptation of "A Tale of Two Cities". Third on the list is an unpublished original romantic comedy, "Without Consent" written by a published playwrite from our area, Jack Perry. We have invited his participation in the process and he is looking forward to it, plans on attending the opening night. What are you folks doing? |
