Hey guys, i was looking for a play to do that would be popular with audiences, able to put up in a short amount of time and wouldn't take a whole lot of people. Weather is great down here and I would like to fit at least one play in around the holidays. I have a few in mind, but would like to hold off on them till spring. The play would be prefferably family friendly, have anywhere from 4-8 major parts, (working with uncertain amount of actors, but i got at least 4, can get more) and, with little time, not be terribly time consuming with the set. I can get alot done, but the simpler the set the better. Any kind of play is good, drama, comedy, thriller, or even mystery. The town is having a festival and I was offered a time slot to do a play in, so I took it, that's why I'm in a bit of a rush. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, Here are a couple of suggestions: -Eleemosynary. Drama. Lee Blessing - the set is very open to different interpretations. Three roles for dynamic women (representing three generations). -Three Viewings. Comedy/drama. Jeffrey Hatcher. This one has it all. Three 30-minute monologues set in a midwestern funeral home. I love this piece! One man two women. Again, you have to have dynamic actors since they are on stage alone for an extended period of time.The set can be very simple or very detailed. -Agnes of God. Drama. John Pielmier. Another powerhouse play for three wonderful female leads. And again, a simple, yet powerful set will do you fine. -Greater Tuna. Fabulous comic roles for two men. Hardly any set needed, but what you save on set, you will be spending on costumes and props. But I wanted to throw in a comedy. -Proof. Drama. Nice roles for two women and two men. Back porch/back yard set - again could be simple and suggestive or highly detailed. Wonderful script. regards, Bernie |

look at Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol was written as 1 man show then adapted to 4 man show. Tells A Charistma Carol from Jacobs point of view(he must redeem Scrooge to get out of hell) was a huge hit for us last year.

"Vanities" by Jack Heifner (comedy) - 3 women, 3 scenes, suggested set pieces. A look at three women coming of age in the 60s/70's/80's. "Two Rooms" by Lee Blessing (drama) - 2 men/2 women, black box. An intense story of the Beirut hostage situation.

You might want to try A Broadway X-mas Carol (really Funny, and only 4 people). You can also try Nunsense. I nkow that that does not require much on the technical side of things.
