I really don't want to cornstarch my hair to make it grey for my role as an 'older' woman. I tried it and it didn't look real. I heard that white grease paint works, but is hard to remove. Any other ideas?

Believe it or not, white shoe polish, readily available
at any drugstore, works wonders. It comes in a bottle with a handy applicator and easily shampoos away. |

You might try talc powder and add on extra each time you go on stage.

I just finished directing a play where one character had to appear "older" we tried it all, starch, talc, grease paint, spray hair color, etc. and the best results were with a little watered down shoe polish. Up close I thought "no way", but it looked fabulous from the theatre!

th8rguykc makes a great point: doesn't matter what it looks like in the chair, look at it under the lights. I've seen shoe polish work well also. |

Shoe polish is my vote too we use one of those small wire brushes that people use to clean batteries with and it looks very real as it tends to coat the individual hairs.
