hello from McKinleyville in Humboldt County, California! We are trying to start a community theater and we want our parks anrecreation department to support it. Is there anyone else out there who has an example of a working partnership like that? Could we get samples of your organizational plan, budget, etc? I know it's a lot to ask, but it would sure help to not have to reinvent the wheel! Thanks

Five years ago in Kansas City, MO the parks & rec department funded the construction of the Just Off Broadway Theatre space. The actual space is run by a board of directors made up of several theatre groups who share the space. There is a membership fee for any theatre that wishes to belong and use the space, and the theatres who belong get a discounted rate. Now... there are issues with this setup, such as too many groups and not enough calendar time for the space, etc. But its the only partnership with P&R in this area that comes to mind.
