bullet Topic: Anyone seen or done Stephen Kings MISERY?
    Posted: 7/23/03 at 10:25am
Trying to come up with some ideas for a two person production this upcomming season. I need 1M and 1F, and noticed MISERY. Has anyone seen it, or produced it? If so drop me a line and let me know how it went, and any thoughts you had on the script. I just ordered it and once read and digested will post on the script database. Thanks in advance.

I haven't seen the play but, it is on our new company's list of plays that we want to do. Post back and, let me know if you decide to do it.

I saw it, it could have been really good, but the end struggle scene became almost laughably horrible. Oh and by the way, the theater company closed right after they did it. Although not because the show was terrible, or maybe...

Stuck on Misery? How about THE GUYS? I am doing it right now - we open on Thursday - very nice - September 11th, Firefighters, grieving and healing. For something offbeat try Three Viewings. It won second place in the recent AACT competition. We have done it twice - really one of my favorite plays - 2 women and one man.

I worked at a theatre in Michigan that had done MISERY the season before I got there. I only saw the tape - and we all know what videotapes do to live theatre - but it was fairly incredible. Interestingly, they brought in a distinctly different audience - younger, non-theatre-goers. Most of their regular subscribers tended to stay away. Something to keep in mind.

Which licensing company handles Misery? I would really like to get a copy to read.

An Atlanta community theater did the show last season. good production, but the season subscribers hated it, and stayed away in droves. a very violent and intense play with a lot of physical abuse on stage. show lost a lot of money for the company.
