I have been asked to direct a fall production of "Death By Chocolate". Required is a pistol that is really a cigarette lighter that will be lit on stage. "Novelty" cigarette lighters used to be easy to find but not since 9/11 and the advent of the Homeland Security Act. Any help will really be appreciated. I dont want to have to rewrite this scene. |

Ebay appears to have a fair number of what you're looking for. Just do a search for "pistol lighter"

Another easy method is to glue (or otherwise
secure) a disposable lighter to a prop gun. The actor keeps the side with the lighter upstage and out-of-sight of the audience. Position the lighter so the flint mechanism is near the trigger. Prowl the tobacconist shops for a lighter that will meet your needs. Sometimes it's possible for the actor to conceal it with his hand as he holds the butt of the pistol. All he then has to do is flick the lighter instead of pulling the trigger. Some lighters have an adjustable flame to get more height. Adjust the flame so it can be seen above the hammer of the pistol. You may need to refill the butane between shows quite often to get the effect you want. Good luck. |

I needed the same prop for a show last year. I went to a smoke shop and rented one from the shop. they delt in vintage smoking stuff. They let me use it in exchange for a line in the program. tough to find though. good luck
