Hello all,
I'm not new to theater (been working professionally in production for over 20 years) but now I am helping start a new Community Theater in my area. We have all the usual obstacles that most starts ups have,,,, small space for rehearsal, need to "borrow" stage from a school for performances, limited tech help, and energetic but inexperienced staff and actors! So I am looking for suggestions on a First SIMPLE play to do. It needs to have a limited number of actors, a mix of both adult and a few children ( or young adult) roles, and requires very simply sets and limited props. Our target audience is children and their parents. I was thinking maybe a collection of a few short plays like "The Princess and the Pea" or similar. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance Craig |

Our Town is always a simple favorite. Play It Again, Sam or God by Woody Allen are easy too. These require some set. There is a collection of three one acts for two women called Win/Lose/Draw (Dramatists). The plays within are called Little Miss Fresno, Final Placement, and Chocolate Cake - but they are each for 2 female actors. By Ara Watson and Mary Gallagher Vanities is another easily built show - but just 3 females and one male voice (can be recorded) |

Vanities is a great show....only needs three females and does not require much of a set....but if your target audience is "children and their parents"....forget about it. Very adult themes and language. Good luck, Countbio
