Hi all. I am doing a show where I need to have a candelabra light "as if on it's own." Anyone have any ideas how this could be done cheaply? The show is about vampires and every time they go into their lair we want the candles to "magically light" when they enter.
Concept: Candelabra with 8 candles in a row. Someone flicks a switch or something backstage and all of the candles light at once. We have to do this several times during the show. I have found remote control auto-lighting candles but they were like $300, which is well out of our budget. I was kind of thinking something on the lines of a grill ignitor or something. I think you might be overcomplicating this. Why not just get some of those flickering lightbulbs?
Anytime you start working with live fire on stage (especially auto igniting), you make your show ten times more complicated, expensive, and dangerous. Your mileage may vary. |

Any time you use fire on stage you usually need a licensed pyro guy and/or a fireman on site.

We used some of the cheap battery powered "candles" that work off a remote control when we did "High Spirits". I don't believe they were very expensive and they worked fairly reliably and looked good.
