Hi my name is Lyla. I am doing a report for my Cosmetology class about theater make-up. I was trying to look on the internet for information but all i could find are sites on suppliers and classes. Can someone please help me with any kind of basic information with my topic. Thank you!

Hi Lyla, Not sure what you are looking for....very big topic. Perhaps if you asked some specific questions we could be of more help. Good luck, Countbio |

Go to your local library and see if they either possess
or have access to the book "Stage Makeup" by Richard Corson. It is a large folio filled with many photos and illustrations covering everything from basic shadowing to more complex latex applications and even wigs & moustaches. Good luck. |

You're welcome, Lyla!
For others who may be interested, "Stage Makeup" by Richard Corson, is published by Prentice Hall and is practically the makeup artist's bible. It is updated every few years and is currently in it's ninth edition. (I own the fifth edition, which dates me considerably.) The new edition includes a section on TV makeup. It is an expensive (approx $75) coffee-table sized book but is well worth the investment. For just a school report a thorough perusal at the library will suffice, but for serious actors, it should be one of the ten books every theater, actor or techie should own. One may even find an earlier (and cheaper) edition available at one of those discount, half-price book stores. Enjoy! |
