I'll be the first to admit I didn't do a brilliant job as a director, but the show fell pretty flat. I think it's a finely written play, and it can succeed, but it really needs a terrific director (which I'm not) - I was not up to the challenge.

 

That said, the play is willfully vague and can be obtuse at times. It suffers from what I call "modern drama syndrome" in which anything too literal and story-minded takes a backseat to a symbolic atmosphere. I find that audiences much prefer the former, and modern playwrights much prefer the latter. My take, anyway.
