I'm sure this has been covered here, I just can't find it.
I need an effect where a door opens and smoke pours out after an explosion. I don't know even the first thing about the options. |

That is a trickey one, Smoke will go everywhere unless it is contained. I'm thinking a little room (4' x 4' x 8') that is pretty well sealed (even around the door(s). Put the smoke machine in the room, or pipe the smoke in. Start the smoke machine a little before the moment when the door is to open so that the room has time to fill.

Just how much smoke are you taking about? And what do you have access to (as far as smoke/fog machines)?
Also, more information about the door could help. Is it practical? Is it used for full entrances/exits? I assume it's just a regular door? Edited by PaulyWally - 2/23/11 at 12:42am |

One thing to keep in mind is smoke rises, with a mind of it's own. So you meed to contain it with a ceiling over the smoke containment structure, as suggested by David. Edited by JoeMc - 2/23/11 at 8:23pm |
