Hi All,I am stage managing a production of the murder mystery, "Dedicated to the End"In the play, a bomb goes off and my director asked me to research how to simulate a bomb on stage. If anyone has any information on this, please respond. Thanks,Jen

G'day Jen welcome to the forum. The simplest way I have it done this this type of effect in the past, to sumulate a bomb going off is with lighting, audio, smoke & even inclusing air movement effects.
However not knowing the script, it is difficult to know if you just want to produce a prop or the effect? Also does this take place in view or off stage &/or to what extent it has on the set?
Maybe a wee bit more info including the mise en scene, type of stage & whatever. ![]() Edited by JoeMc - 10/08/10 at 10:31pm |

Thanks, Joe.
The action takes place during a cocktail party, not on stage, but on the floor and the audience in part of it. There needs to be the explosion and someone takes the remains of it out. |

Sorry Jen, forgive me I tend to be as thick as two short planks & twice as dence.
![]() Remains of what? The 'warm prop' [murder victim], the prop bomb or the resulting damage caused to the set props at the 'party'? ![]() Edited by JoeMc - 10/09/10 at 9:09pm |

I assume the device will be under a table, rather than a chair, which would make it easier to set up a 'Smoke box' & active it. Along with the use of a strobe/flash blinder, compressed air & a 'Sub woofer'. To enhance the effect of flash/bang/smoke & with the Sub speeker face down on the floor give the reverb to the audio effect. As for the prop bomb I should imagine, in reality, there would little if any of it left. Edited by JoeMc - 10/12/10 at 11:54pm |
