I'm a volunteer director/parent with a middle school drama club comprised of 6 girls and 5 boys. I'm looking for a full length drama or drama/comedy. I'm overwhelmed with choices and hope someone can narrow the field down for me. Any ideas?

Go with great oldies like DEAR RUTH, JUNIOR MISS, or ONE FOOT IN HEAVEN. Avoid the inane like anything by Neil Simon. There are so many fantastic plays out there and I am thinking that for most student drama clubs, this is a way of exposing them to the best and what they may never have a chance to perform in or see. If really an ambitious, talented group, why not let them get their teeth into TWELFTH NIGHT?

You might try a musical called "Romeo Loves Juliet" which has been done
all over the world to good reviews (US, England, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Botswana, Saudi Arabia, etc,) and has a lot of good female roles. The only biggish male role is Romeo. 8F, 4M, -With a variant versions for larger cast needs? (12F, 7M, 6Either) Email here for free perusal of both script and music midis: gmurphy@snowcrest.net |

Neil Simon, INANE?!? I disagree FOOLS is a great Neil Simon for a small cast, challenging yet do-able for kids, and very clever (in its foolishness) |
