   Karin you could always use a real magic wand? 
Just ensure the Fairy Godmother swaps the wand into her left hand [closest to her heart] to cast the spell. 
Or is it put in the right hand for good spells? 
{It's been that long since I did a Panto - I have forgotten the tradition of the Fairy's wand?}
