Hi,
We purchased the SCS system in January and it constantly crashes the PC. We used to have a complicated set of various audio devices such as CD, tape, mini discs readers and a mixing desk for the audio of our theatre, but replaced it with a modern PC version in January. Basically the machine crashes randomly at any time during rehearsal and LIVE during the play, an average of 4 times for each production, with obvious consequences for the production and the cast... ![]() The PC was returned 3 times to the menders for all kinds of checks and even a change of Sound card, but it runs fine outside the theatre apparently. ![]() We have 4 sound cards, 3 internal 1 external, 2 of them are SBs, the machine only runs SCS and XP home & it is not connected to the net ( hence not getting any unwanted upgrades!). Has anyone had similar problems?? this is seriously driving me and everyone insane!! Any suggestion welcome. Thanks! |

Troubleshooting 101. You did check the system requirements prior to installing the software, right? If they're at minimums you might want to think about upgrading to the reccomended Sys Req . After that my next guess would be check that you have adequate space for ventilation. If it's only crashing while in your booth, it may be that you have it too close to another heat generating device or that the vent doesn't have enough space to ensure proper cooling.
Best of luck.

make sure you don't have unnecessary utilities such as anti-virus, malware, ad-aware, etc. on the machine. If they are, uninstall them, as many cannot be turned off.
Having the correct drivers is often a problem, and with so many sound cards, it may be the many drivers that are causing the crashes. You'd likely be better served by using one device - be it internal or external - that can give you all of the inputs and outputs that you need. Have you tried the SCS forum for advice? |

I have been using SCS for years on a P-4 machine with XP and only 512MB memory without difficulty. Have you checked the SCS forum site with this concern? Have you contacted Mr Daniells (sp?), the program author, for a solution? He has always been responsive when I have had a problem.
My 2 cents mr_paddy |
