We are currently in rehearsal for "The Full Monty" and I have volunteered to handle props for the show. However, there isn't a prop list in the back of my MTI book and I was wondering if anyone had done this show and what sort of props you used.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Charlie

As I never full on follow the "props list" (its a great place to start, but in my experience the director tends to tweak to many things), I usually go throught the script with the director and find out what she wants. It only takes about a half hour and saves a ton of wasted time in the long run when you look all over for 36 identical vases to break onstage only to find out that the director changed the vases to ceramic figurines!

I agree the props will be generic to the scene & reading the script in consultation with the production team.
In fact for the most part it will come from notations that evolve from rehearsals, compiled by the SM &/or the props person.
For the most part even with a list in the script it is only a guide. to make it easier, that can be also a hindrance.

I agree that the props list is a jumping off point, but the prop list in the script is usually the props suggested by the playwright and my director is trying to be very faithful to the original production (we are handling the first non-professonal production of the show in California and are attracting some inportant attention.
I am the prop master for the show (and assistant director) and have gone through the script, line by line to compile a prop list, but would love to have something to compare it to. Having done props for nie on 30 years, I know the drill, but in this case, everything has a heighened sense of importance.

I can't help as the nearest one I have been exposed to is the augumently original play of the 'Girls night Out'.
One thing how you getting on with doing the Liverpudlian [or is it Manchurian?] accents!
Also with the set;- http://www.scenicprojects.co.uk/Full%20Monty.htm

We're actually using an American version of the script. it's set in Buffalo, so we're dealing with New Yawk accents instead. Several of us are from the East Coast, so we're 'helping' with the accents.
The set is incredible and will be posted on our website (SCTlivetheatre.org) next month. The SD is doing three sets of portals, each with sliding panals to help establish the different locations. The bathroom doubles for both the men's room and Davie's, with some set dressing making the difference. What I'm the most concerned with is the stupid sunbed! I'm thinking that we're going to have to build something because we sure don't have that in furntiure storage.

It would be easy enough to produce, using 'Cold Cathode' rather than Fluro strips used in sun beds.
Also CCF is dimmable & with no appreciable heat output;-
Hope this helps?
The set sounds great!
