I am in need of a piano on a set for a murder mystery I am producing but the stage is not something we can get a real piano up on. Is there a place to rent a prop piano, something lightweight but still looks like a real piano? We can do the music part with sound effects.

Some furniture places have access to cardboard props, like computers, tvs...I wonder if a piano is possible?

I know that piano teachers use cardboard replicas of keyboards to practice on. Could a frame of an upright piano be built around one?

Or an upright like the one shown in this picture, wouldn't be too hard to build out of cardboard or luan (its mostly square) http://brain.mcmaster.ca/piano/concert.jpg

Also unless the play is a period piecs, perhaps a nice keyboard could be used if the play is more recent than 1980.

In the past I have built lightweight frames around an electronic keyboard to look like a real piano. This is especially easy with upright pianos as they are basically big boxes but grand pianos are easily made from luan and styrofoam.

Do you have any plans for or pictures of the pianos you built with the keyboard? That is what I am planning to do but it needs to be a 1900's upright. Any assistance would be appreciated.
