okay.... for anyone out there working within a little theatre that isn't too conservative.... i HAVE to get the word out. the funniest all female musical comedy i have ever seen or worked on is a play called "six women with brain death (or expiring minds want to know)"
that is THE FULL NAME of the show, i swear. it is a riot. the show consists of a number of musical vignettes (ooo i know i didn't spell that right) that center around a tabloid newspaper type theme. the music is a little bit of rock'n'roll, a little bit of funk, a little bit of gospel, a little bit of country and even a little bit of opera. the vocal peices really are stunning. and the dialogue is hillarious. the characters and costumes are wonderful. the subjects range from totally taboo to completey realistic. but each scene is completely engrossing and it has all kinds of oportunities for lighting and set designs. this is a most amazing artistic theatrical piece. especially if you're into pushing the envelope a little and experimenting with design. truly. find it, read it and prepare to laugh your butts off. :) |

I would put Radio Gals at the top of my list. The problem is that Radio Gals is probably not castable in small communities because the cast (6W 1M) also have to paly instruments but the show is really nice and plays to all ages.
