Anyone have any idea how to do a 2-dimensional car? We are doing the Farndale Ave townswomen's "Haunted through Lounge" It is farcical everything go wrong type production that has everyone laughing. The opening scene has two people in a car that is only on for about 5 minutes. If we could fit in a toy one we would but no good.

You could just use a bench style car seat -- for example, remove the farthest rear seat from a minivan and mount it on a sturdy platform. It worked for two scenes in cars for Dearly Departed that we did last winter. |

Well seeing it is for the intrepid "FATETWGDS' ladies.
I realise this is not 2D but might be worth a try - they did this in 'By Jeeves'. It was just a turned upside down table, with a 2 seater lounge chair on it. A card board box was used for the bonnet [hood] with wire coat hangers as the windshield wipers & various other kitchen uTensils for other car acessories, including a plate for the stearing wheal. They also had a larger box as the boot [trunk] behind the chair, large enough for someone to hide in & help move the table about, to simulate the car driving on the road. {bit of extra bussiness to use there of course} the table top sat on a rug turned upside down, so the rugs pile made it easier to move. With a 2D one you could use a Flat with profiled added or foam board cut & shaprd. There again a piece of calico [muslin or bedsheat] held up by 2 broam stcks like a banner. Painted as car with cut out windscreen or as windows as a side view. The Luvvies can sit on chairs behind. ![]() |

The wildly farcical play "Bullshot Crummond" actually has a car CHASE in the script. It's typcially staged with two actors sitting behind a giant cardboard cut-out representing the windshield and front-end grille shooting at two other actors sitting behind a similar cut-out. It's very cheesy and very funny.

For "Li'l Abner" we used a golf cart with cardboard panels on it, painted to look like a car.
It was actually pretty funny. |

For "The Full Monty", we used presswood that we 'drew' a picture of the car using an overhead projector, then cut it out. We then screwed said presswood onto a rolling flat. I'm trying to find you a photo of it .....
