bullet Topic: Looking for Peter Pan Script
    Posted: 1/17/00 at 4:01pm
I am one of the leaders of a summer youth educational theatre program in Central new Jersey. We do large-scale musical productions. One of the shows we are looking at is Peter Pan. Some of us are familiar with it, but we'd like to borrow a script to review. Samuel French does not have one "at this time" to send out. If there is a copy of the score, we'd like to borrow that. too. We will pay all shipping and a deposit, if required.

We are also looking for a staff. We haven't finalized on a show (in addition tp Peter Pan, we are looking at Camelot, 42nd St., Sugar, and South Pacific.) We pay, no housing, but we are looking for Director, Choreographer, AD, TD, MD, Vocal Director, and some assistants.

This is a great site--I do shows at other theatres in NJ, and would like to converse with anyone in regards to Community theatre.

Sorry, can't help you with a script. But am interested in your program to see if it could be duplicated in a rural (very rural) area of NYS. Funding? Type of facility utilized? Community support? When building our schedule, we rely on shows of 6-9 cast members other than at Christmas every other year when we try to put on a large production involving as many children as possible. Have had as many as 40 children and teens involved on stage. We may decide to try something like this in the summer one of these years.

Hi Bill,

I stumbled upon this site by accident and found your message. I am the Artistic Director/Director of a children's Theater in Rockland County NY. We are in rehearsal for Peter Pan right now! I would love to talk to you further, I am very experienced in directing children. We have closed to 50 children (yikes!) in the production.

Do know, that the royalties are quite pricey. Our theatre seats 700, and we are paying close to $3000 for rights.

Please feel free to contact me to discuss.

Best,

Ayn

My group is opening Peter Pan tomorrow night (Thursday--I'm a pirate--a woman in disguise)! Samuel French must be very proud of those scripts and scores. They have put the fear of God into our crew, because we received numbered copies which all had to be accounted for and turned in when we dropped book. One of the easiest things to do is rent the Cathy Rigby video of the stage performance. It is true to the script and score. Our group rented one of the scrims and the Nana costume that was used in that production. Peter Pan is a killer show, but massively expensive. We're performing dress rehearsal tonight in front of 500 Boys and Girls Club members. Break a leg!
