Would I contact the publisher of the book to gain permission to do a stage presentation of my own? Or perhaps the movie production company to use their script changed from screen to stage? Hmmm...

I suppose that is the logical place to start. You can probably find a copy of the book on ebay (either title). But isn't it true that you can sometimes find scripts of screenplays? Maybe this one is available. Let us know what you come up with...your own adaptation would be interesting to read, too.
